So I had a bit of trouble with this drawing. I just didn't know what to do with the background and I asked for suggestions on Tumblr. One of the suggestions was: “Have you thought of making the backround of the asgard palace or have thor and his dad in the backround in an angsty sorta thing?” by cherryblossims, and there was something about an angsty Thor that I really liked so I came up with that. I feel like I must apologize to everyone because all my Loki drawings are drawings filled with Loki feels.
After I was done with the drawing I faced another silly setback: what should I call this drawing? And my sister helped me with that. She suggested "The Absence of Hope", Thor being said hope, and I couldn’t think of a more fitting title! Thor was, indeed, hope for Loki and in this moment, - the moment Loki finds he’s a Frost Giant -, Thor wasn’t there and Odin went into Odinsleep. Loki felt alone, betrayed, unloved. Thor wasn’t there to remind him that he was still his little brother, that it didn’t matter that he was a Frost Giant, that he was still Loki, son of Odin. That’s why I drew Thor in black and white, because he wasn’t really there. It’s true that Loki was to blame for Thor’s banishment but he still loved his brother and he wanted to make it right. He tried to tell Odin what he’d done but was shut down and never had the chance to come clean.
For Loki I used these ref. pics:
For Thor I used this ref. pic:[link]
